About Me
My Journey with Sleep
Hi, I’m Jess, Sleep Consultant, Dr of Clinical Psychology, Founder of Dream Beyond the Clouds and Mummy to a one year old daughter.
My journey to having my daughter was difficult. She was born after several years, a loss, and four rounds of IVF. There were many heart breaking times when I thought I would never become a parent.
When my daughter came along she was everything I had dreamed of and more, only she DID NOT sleep! Because of the journey to having her I felt so grateful to be a parent, but I also felt incredible pressure to cherish every moment. She had to be held to sleep and woke up the second we put her down. We stayed up around the clock in shifts, night after night. I loved the cuddles, but the sleep deprivation meant I was running on empty. I was so exhausted that I couldn’t give her the energy and attention I wanted to and I felt so much guilt.
I felt like a failure. Why couldn’t I get my much longed for baby to sleep? What was I doing wrong? For months I struggled in silence dreading the nights and scouring the internet for solutions.
Eventually I reached out to a sleep consultant and it was life changing. My daughter began sleeping through, I had evenings and my confidence back, and more importantly the energy to be the parent I had always imagined I would be. Bedtime changed from dread to joy.
I certified as a Sleep Consultant with The Sleep Consultant Academy, determined to support and empower others like me and give them the confidence and tools to transform their families sleep.
